Creating A New company

I have a client who have GP Version 10.00.1757 and it has reached a point where he cant create a company.When you run the utilities it goes on its remains busy for long without changing the running status such that one is not prompted to create the new company.My client has already created a lot of companies (more than 20) before.

What could be the cause?.Does he require an upgrade?

    Sounds like there might be corruption in the database somewhere and it is not able to finish the checks. Might be worth running a trace on SQL while running GP Utilities and see where it is getting stuck.

    As Ian suggests, there may be corruption here. I would start by running the clear company script. You can find it in this KB 855361. Also, make sure you have adequate space on all drives.  Your tempdb database may have grown and now you have very little space on your root drive. Check the little things first.
