Custom Field is Grayed-out / Un-editable

I have added a Custom Field to the Edit Task screen for Financial period close. (General ledger > Workspaces > Financial period close > choose "Edit" for a record in the Task list). Screenshot attached. This Custom Field gets added to the LedgerPeriodCloseProject table and it is grayed-out / un-editable. Every other Custom Field I have added works as advertised. I am unable to figure out what is different here; does anyone have advice?

I have compiled and sync'd my environment. The table is viable for Custom Field in accordance with the Microsoft Docs (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations//fin-and-ops/get-started/user-defined-fields).
