sequence of workflow users group doesn't work

Hello everyone,

I have created with a standard pattern of workflow to approve a purchase invoice with a workflow user group. (MS Dynamics 365 BC Version 27.2)

I have checked my workflow setup with the microsoft documentation
" Note
Typically, sequence numbers are sequential for users in a workflow user group. However, multiple users can have the same sequence number. When that's the case, only one of the users must approve a request before the workflow goes to the next step. For example, if user A and user B are both number two in the sequence, the workflow goes to the step three when when either user A or user B approves the request."

But BC do not work analog the documentation.

What can I do to solve the problem?

Kind regards,
Stefan

What's the problem now? Haven't we moved on to the next step?
I've tested it before and haven't encountered any problems.
Hope the following can give you some helps as well.

    THanks.

    Hi,

You are correct. The BC documentation and Standard workflow templates does not match the requirment.
Basically if you will use standard templates system will require both A or B to approve before it goes to the next level.

Howerver the requirement of any one apporoving and moving to next steps is possible with some setup changes.

    Hello Stefan,

Business Central only behaves like the Microsoft Learn note (“one approver is enough when sequence numbers are equal”) if the Workflow User Group is configured for it. In practice, when No. of Required Approvals in the Workflow User Group is empty or >1, BC treats the step as “all users in that sequence must approve,” which is why you see one approval approved and the other still open and the workflow not moving on. Set No. of Required Approvals = 1, verify the workflow response is Create approval requests using Workflow User Group, and retest with a new document; if it still fails, update to the latest 27.x CU, as earlier CUs had inconsistent behavior here.
