Can the same RecId be generated again?

Hello,

I am working on upgrading AX to D365. There is a sizable modification, using external software, in which records from AX are identified by RecId, which must remain unchanged.
The question is, can there be a situation where a new record is created in D365 with a RecId that has already been generated previously in AX?

Hi Shooowtek,

Your question is cunfusing me a bit. Are you trying to ask if you can reuse the same RecId value when converting data using e.g. data management? When you import records, you can't control the RecId to be used.

If your question is about having the database upgraded and then when using the application, it would again issue an already existing RecId, that is most likely not possible. If it would issue the same RecId, it is not accepted as the RecId field is not allowing duplicates. You will then get a runtime error raised by the SQL database.

Hi,
In AX, we will query the SYSTEMSEQUENCES table of the related database, but it is not the same in D365FO,Microsoft has switched from using a dedicated database table to using the standard SQL sequences functionality.
If we upgrade the database, we will encounter record problems: could not be inserted due to already existing records.
