Bank Rec

It's my first time doing a bank rec in BC and I have 2 questions... Why are there lines where the applied amount and statement amount are different? When I dug deeper, the applied amount is the same as the statement amount (in the GL). And why is the Total Difference $0 but the Balance to Reconcile is not? Can I post this as is or will I need to adjust something?

    Hello,
Do not post it as shown. The first line has a statement amount of -3,300 but an applied amount of -4,000,000, which means it is matched to the wrong entry or multiple ledger entries; use Remove Match and match it again to the correct -3,300 entry. Total Difference = 0 can be misleading because positive and negative line differences may cancel each other, and Business Central does not allow many-to-one matches with individual differences even when their total is zero. Balance to Reconcile does not necessarily need to be zero because unmatched bank ledger entries can remain as legitimate outstanding transactions, but all statement lines should have zero individual difference and the reconciliation totals must agree with the statement before posting.

Hi, the applied amount is different from the statement amount because you've matched lines between the bank statement (left) and business central subledger (right) that don't match in dollar amount. You can manually match to clear that difference or unmatch incorrectly applied entries.

The total difference is 0$ because that's the sum of all Differences in the bank statement lines. It's effectively Sum of all Statements Amounts - Sum of all Applied amounts.

You most likely have entries matched to the wrong lines in the bank statement but you still correctly matched the subledger lines.

The balance to reconcile is the total balance of your bank subledger. It may not end up being 0$ if you have unreconciled lines.

I wouldn't post it in this state. I would drill into the applied amounts for lines with differences and then unmatch those lines and correct them so there are no differences. Once there are no differences you can then post.

I would work with your partner if you are unsure about all the fields and process for reconciliation.

    Best,
