Alert.js solution from codeplex

Posted on by 175

Is the alert.js solution available codeplex a MS supported way ?

Because with alert.js, I need to use "document.getElementById" to retreive user input from the input box.

Can somebody please confirm, whether using alert.js is a supported way or unsupported.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

To answer your question, it is unsupported and the same is mentioned in the codeplex page. However this is the best liqbrary to use for anything related to alerts and therethe are lot of developers using it. So even if it breaks in future, I am sure someone will fix the issues and make it compatible again :)

    https://alertjs.codeplex.com

"While technically unsupported, this code is 100% contained within the solution, and doesn't depend on anything CRM related, so it's unlikely this will break with CRM updates"

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

getElementById is a standard DOM-access method. It is not supported in the context of XRM, but alert.js is not XRM - it's a different library. As long as you are not using getElementById to access any of the Dynamics controls, you are fine (there is nothing wrong with getElementById if you are using it to access HTML controls in a web resource, for example)
