Managed Solution Not Importing Properly

Posted on by 180

Hi,

I'm trying to import some changes (between Dev and Test) I've made to the Marketing List entity in D365.

Originally, there wasn't an issue, but something happened along the way and now when trying to publish the imported Marketing List entity, I get a the following error:

Publishing customizations failed. You are attempting to update in the active context when there exists an active row, but either the active row has a state other than publish or unpublish or you are attempting to do a published update of a publishable component, which is not allowed. _Input.FinalComponentState: Unpublish; componentType: 7; objectId: 84339371-e377-e911-a9e0-000d3ad1c507; CurrentState: SolutionActive;

I haven't been able to identify what the object ID relates to (tried using the GUID search plugin in XRMToolbox and looked through the solution xml files).

I got around the issue previously (experienced with the account and contact entities) by packaging these entities into a solution from our Prod environment, then importing back into Dev. This approach isn't working for the Marketing List entity though.

Something else that is occurring: In Prod, the list entity is named Marketing List. In Dev, the list entity is named Managed Mail-Out. When I export the list entity from Prod, into Dev, the configuration of the entity in Dev remains the same, when I expect it to be changed to match what is in Prod. There are a number of other changes which follow the same behaviour (not matching what was exported from Prod).

I've tried exporting the list entity in unmanaged and managed solutions but it made no difference - I can't get the solution from Prod to be imported into Dev properly. I don't receive any errors when importing either.

It seems like the list entity has become corrupted in Dev (and Test) somehow, but I'm not sure how to fix the problem.

Any ideas?

    MS got back to me and identified that it was an error with the 'ApplySolutionUpdateInsteadOfHardDelete' Feature Control Bits (FCB). "There’s a FCB which is causing the publish all customizations issue for multiple customer across the regions."

    They were very quick to rectify the issue, so all is well now :-)

    Hi Gilmeyer,

    Thanks for your reply. Since my original post I've raised a ticket.

    I'll try and report back on here once the support team has done some troubleshooting and I have more info (to help others that may be experiencing the same/a similar issue)
