Business Central backup country

My customers are afraid of the backup solution for Dynamics Business central which is located in UAE for the middle east region. After AWS attack by the Iranian strikes, Microsoft customers are afraid because Microsoft Datacenters are located in Dubai and the geo replication is in the same country. Is there any solution for this in case the war evolute?

    Hi,

Though Microsoft in their documentation clearly mentions about BCDR (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/service-overview#business-continuity-and-disaster-recovery-bcdr), where it also follows Automated Azure SQL Backups (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-sql/database/automated-backups-overview?view=azuresql), your data is 99.9% safe and up and running anytime.

You have another option to export your production or Sandbox data in Azure storage using this guide - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/tenant-admin-center-database-export
It create an exact replica of your database, which if require, you can import in any SQL.

Hi, or the most definitive answer, I recommend checking directly with Microsoft. However, in my view, backups are likely stored within the same Azure region as the environment. If they weren't, it would be nearly impossible to guarantee the restoration speeds we expect.
PS: Dynamics 365 Business Central: Where is cloud(SaaS) data actually stored? (Using Azure geographies)
Dynamics 365 Business Central: Where is cloud(SaaS) data actually stored (Get BC public IP address, City, Region, Country, Location etc.)

    Thanks

    Hello,
Business Central online already has Microsoft-managed disaster recovery built in: data stays in its assigned Azure geography, environments get automatic backups, and production/sandbox can be restored to a point in time for 28 days; Microsoft also states backups are generally geo-redundant and, if a full regional outage happens, recovery is done in another Azure region within the same geography. What customers cannot do in standard BC SaaS is choose their own cross-country / out-of-geo backup location. So the answer is basically: there is DR, but it stays inside Microsoft’s geography rules, not a customer-defined “backup in another country” model. If the customer needs guaranteed DR outside UAE or outside the same geo, that’s usually not solved by standard BC online settings and needs a different compliance/hosting strategy discussion.

    Hello,
Business Central SaaS already includes built-in disaster recovery and backups through Azure (automatic backups, availability zones, and geo-redundant backups), but data normally stays within the same Azure geography—for the Middle East this is typically UAE North and UAE Central. This means Microsoft can restore the service during regional outages, but customers can’t configure cross-country replication themselves in standard SaaS. If clients want additional protection against geopolitical risks, the typical approach is to replicate critical data to another geography (EU/US) using integrations or external backups, or run Business Central on-prem/IaaS where cross-region SQL geo-replication can be configured.

Hii There , as per requirement you can not directly transfer region.
for that you need to either raise ticket or replicate same Import into new environment. and check for all validations and tax related complinces.

also its possible of delay for data process , so you don't worry about database as microsoft is already replicate data into another same region database , so it will provide you service more Possible way.

If you found answer, Marsk It answered .
    Thank You.

You can’t move an environment from UAE to Europe using Environment Transfer. You need to create a new environment in Europe and migrate the data.
