We need 5 user fields that will stay attached to the order/invoice record. These are to hold Lot # of products shipped. In the future, we need to inquire using a lot # as search parameter, returning all customer/orders that the lot # in question is attached. Any thoughts?? Thanks.

Your reseller could easily configure a customization to capture this information in a custom table using dexterity programming.
Too much additional clerical and data entry work. This is a mixed mode mfg/distribution operation. Qty and cost updates handled by BOM processor. Works well. need to capture Lot # by line item.
Have you considered using GP's Lot/Serial Tracking features for this?
You could then use any number fo reporting/inquiry tools to pull the details you are after.
