ToolStripStatusLabel1 "Error" when opening SL Application

Posted on by 30

I'm trying to open the Dynamics SL application.  We are using windows authentication, and I just got a new computer.  Everything worked fine before.  Now when I try to open my Dynamics SL application I don't get an error and the application does open.  However, it doesn't access my company information and in the bottom left corner of the application screen it has "ToolStripStatusLabel1".

This is what we have done in the past to fix this error:

    • Uninstall the SL Client from the workstation

    • Delete the mapped drive

    • Turn UAC completely off

    • Reboot

    • Log into Windows as an Administrator (domain administrator if possible)

    • Recreate the mapped drive

    • Browse to the client setup exe through the mapped drive

    • Install the SL Client by right clicking and selecting Run As Administrator (may need to reboot after installation)

Were you able to find a solution to this issue? We are experiencing this same issue with a couple users on existing installs.

    We are also on 2011 FP1 SP2

    Danielle,

Sorry to answer with a question but did you install the SL client on this new computer or did you just copy the shortcut to SL from the old computer?  I have to confirm the client was installed before moving on to other possible causes.

If you did install the SL client, was it installed under a user id that has local admin rights to the workstation?  If not, the necessary DLLs would not have successfully registered.

The next possible issue could be that you cannot talk to SQL through this new computer.  since you are using Windows authentication, SQL server has to recognize your Windows credentials in order to get into SL.

Finally, the Windows firewall on the new computer is likely enabled and may not be letting SQL request through.

Normally, problems with SQL eventually come back with an error and do not hang as you are describing.
