GP Manufacturing - Scapped/Rejcted Components Used to Create Other Items

Posted on by 195

In GP 2010 Manufacturing, is there any way to track that scrapped/rejected parts became something else? For example, I have a manufacturing order, #00000119, to make 8 of item #LW20-X which are 20-ft ladders. I go into GP and perform Time Card entry for sequence 450 which is to produce the ladders. Then, in testing for sequence 500, I discover an issue with the ladder 5-ft down. Rather than throwing out the entire ladder, I cut the ladder short and it becomes #LW12-X, a 12-ft ladder, instead. Obviously, we could just adjust inventory to add a 12-ft ladder in. However, that seems a bit ugly and the 12-ft ladder is not associated with the raw materials used to create it. Is there any way to associate the creation of the 12-ft ladder with the Manufacturing Order and raw materials that created it?

The 1 rejected quantity shown in the screenshot should be a #LW12-X.

You can issue an MO to create the 12 foot ladder and change the components in the MO, not in the original BOL but the copy attached to the new MO, to show one 20 foot ladder consumed.  This keeps costs correct as well as inventory, produces an audit trail, and, if you are lot or serial tracking, maintains the tracking.
