Warning, don't use "Renumber Document No." on a large journal (1000+ entries) in Business Central. (Takes hours!)

I had a client who had uploaded 3000 lines to a General Journal successfully, he then used the button to renumber document no.'s.

After 15 minutes, he got worried as it was still thinking, and called his consultant/developer me.

I could only tell him to sit tight and wait until the process was finished.

Around 5-6 hours later, it was done, meanwhile the clients other bookkeeper couldn't do anything as the table journal was locked.

Frustrating for client as they can't do work,

Frustrating for partner, as we can't do anything anymore, and if we had made a support ticket, it would not have been resolved is my guess by the evening anyway.

I have before noticed that this renumbering functionality is really slow.

So this is just a friendly remember to anyone else not to attempt renumbering :)

My client has sworn to himself never to use that button :)
