Posted on by 1,145

Hi all,

How do i export result from Frx report in excel for further analysis. Further more, i am a new user of this reporting tool. How do i Filter my report in the Column layout to print report of a particular segment or department using the wildcard or probably selecting the segment. This is very Urgent.

If I am understanding correctly, this would be a job for a Reporting Tree.  You establish your reporting tree by adding segments that you want grouped together.  Once you have defined your segments in your reporting tree, you can run a report with just this segment.  So for example, you could run your P&L Statement using the exact same Row /Column combination, but the results returned would be filtered on only the segemnt you pick (ex. P&L statement with just Coca Cola Activity). You choose this segment at run time (or inside of Drilldown viewer.)

Now,  once you do that, you can adjust your Column layout to restrict a column to only that segment of the tree.  I don't have it in front of me, but one of the options on the Column layout is to pick a tree, then pick the segment from that tree.

So here, Column layout Column C might be restricted just to this segment for coca cola from your reporting tree, and column D would be restriced to just Pepsi given their link to the tree.

    Hello Frank,

I do appreciate your concern, thanks a bunch. I think i did not make my question clear enough but i will now try give with example.

Example: The Company has different business unit or contracts,

The account is segmented into the ffg:

    1. The first Segment is Business Unit/ Contract e.g Coca- Cola Contract, Pepsi Cola Contract etc

    2. The Second Segment is the Company Accounts e.g Sales, Cost of Sales, Administrative Expenses etc.

Now, i want a report of Contract performance in a coloumnal format i.e placing the Contract side by side for comparison.

    Example :

                                       Contract Performance Report

                                               Coca-Cola                                 Pepsi Cola

    Sales:

     Direct Cost:

    Repair & Maintance

    Transport & travelling

    Contribution

I want to achieve a report in these format to report only GL Accounts relating to each Contracts in different columns.

How do i filter this. Remember My first Segment is Contracts

    Saheed

Use the account filter line to limit a column to a particular segment -????-100 would give you any accounts with segment 2 of 100 in the column.

To answer your second question, you restrict results to segments in the Row Format, not the Column Layout.  Use the GL Link to specify which segments you want to restrict the results to.

Once you have the report on the screen just go to File-Export. There are several formats that you can export to.
