OLE Notes Attachments - Initial Browse Path

Posted on by 610

Does anyone know if there is somewhere that I can configure the initial Browse Path to browse for OLE note attachments?  We just had our A/P Department start attaching pdf's to AP Invoices and it is getting time consuming to Browse to each file.  We use terminal servers and we all have our "My Documents" paths on an H:\ drive and that is generally where the files are that they want to attach.

But it seems that the default path to browse for attachments always reverts back to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\Data\

So I attach a file from my H:\ drive, do into the next transaction and the path is back to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\Data\ and I have to click through a bunch of folders again.  I'd love to see it remember the last folder that I was just browsed to like most other programs do.

Since the browse box always starts out with C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\Data\ in the path, it leads me to believe that this is in a configuration path somewhere (like DEX.ini)

Thanks in Advance.

Kevin

    That is the path to where the actual OLE note containers is, right?  I already have that set up.  I want to change the path of the initial "Browse" directory in the screenshot above.  My OLE notes path is already pointing to an "O" drive that we have mapped across several terminal servers to a central location, but that isn't showing up as that browse path either (nor do I want it).  What is actually showing up as the default is the path to where the DEX.ini file is. For the record, we are using GP 10.

    You can change the default record notes path by editing the dex.ini file found in the data folder off the root directory of the MS Dynamics GP folder on the clients.  The line needs to be edited on each client workstation.

    The line to edit is:

    OLEPath=C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2013\Data\Notes\

    Set the path to the desired shared path.
