Intercompany Purchase Invoice, without Receipts and Item Charge Assignment

Hi,

We are using Business Central's Intercompany Sales and Purchase feature, where when parent company posts Sales Invoice, child company receives Purchase Invoice in Intercompany Inbox.

After posting Purchase Invoice, we want to record additional cost such as Duty, Transport and Warehouse charges.

What I understand that Item Charge assignment can be applied only to Item Ledger entries, whereas in this case, Purchase Invoice is posted without receipt.

Appreciate if someone can advise how do we register this cost to adjust inventory value.

Regards,

S Merchant

    Hello,

When the Intercompany Partner, who is posting the Purchase Invoice, posts, I am guessing this was for an Item, so therefore upon Posting a Document Type = Purchase Receipt is recorded in the Item Ledger Entries. You can then create a Purchase Invoice with a line Charge(Item), for Freight/Duty, and then apply to the Purchase Receipt using Get.

One thing to consider is creating a Purchase Order, which would intercompany as a Sales Order in the other company.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Thanks for your reply Steven.

However, when we post Purchase Invoice with Item, it doesn't create Receipt Lines.

    Hello,

Let me show you my test that it works:

    1. Create Sales Invoice to my sister company who has currency = GBP

    2. In GBP Company create Purchase Invoice:

    3. Now Purchase Invoice for Charge(Item):

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for the detailed explanation.

I'd replied on other thread. But I will maintain the conversation now on this one. Hope that's fine.

For us, after posting Purchase Invoice, it shows the receipt for item under Item ledger entries.

    Pl see the screenshot below.

However, Purchase Receipt Lines table is empty.

Is there any settings we need to change for Purchase Receipt Lines to add?

Or Is there anything we can do to apply Cost to selected Purchase Invoice?

    Much appreciate your help!

Go To Purchase & Payables Setup, turn on the option to create Receipt on Invoice. This will create a Posted Purchase Receipt when you just do an Invoice without a PO.
