Hi All
We have a scenario in our organization that we are using tanks in our inventory
So we sell products in Tanks to customer
When the customer receives the products, he only take the goods inside the tanks and the tanks should return back to Us
We need to monitor those tanks
we need to know which customers have the tanks and which customers return the tank to us
Every Tank Have a Unique No and we don’t charge the customer for that but the tank has a cost by itself because it is very expensive
How can we Handle that ?
Hi, Is it possible to treat Tank as a Location?
In location master, you can use some fields to manage Unique No.
You can put goods into this Tank (Customer Location).
And if the cost of Tank needs to be assigned, you can use Item (Charge).

I had a customer that needed to do the same thing for plastic pallets (they cost a lot of money). How we addressed this was to create an Item, in your case Tanks, that was Serial Lot Tracked. We then had each Sales Order enter the Tank on the Sales Line so it is tracked in Inventory (note: we did not have a selling price). We created a Page/Report for the user that showed each Tank and who it was sold to, where there was NO Sales Return Order for the Tank. This way they can know where the Tank is and if not returned.
