We have a GP Dynamics 2013 environment, which is being managed by consultants. Currently all users log on to a Windows Terminal Server and run the fat client. I was looking at the web client as an alternative to relieve the server of stress. Is there any way to use Windows authentication and Active Directory groups for authentication with either the web or fat GP 2013 client? Our consultant says "No", but I'd like a 2nd opinion.

You cannot use AD groups - Authentication is via AD user for the web client.
Though that AD user needs to be a member of the a specific AD group, depending on the configuration of the GP Web installation.
The consultant claims the authentication can only be based on individual users as opposed to AD groups, which complicates on-boarding/off-boarding. Do you know if AD groups can be the basis for GP 2013 web client authentication or if it has to be based on user objects?
The web client uses Windows authentication. And so, yes, your end users should be able to access the web client from their local PCs.
A dozen or so users. No LB is currently in place.
