Real Time Marketing Issue

Hi everyone. I have a journey that sends out an email to invite contacts to an event. The initial email is sent, then a wait period of several days is set. Then another email is sent, then another wait period and then one final email. This works well when you are a month or 2 out from an event.

The issue I'm having is that contacts are coming in a few days before the event, and then processing through the journey after the event has occurred. The end date of the journey doesn't stop those contacts that are already in process. And you can't set an expiration date to the emails involved in Real Time Marketing.

Any suggestions on how to keep emails from going out after the event date. I know we can manually stop the journey, but I'd like to have an automated option.

Thanks for the help.

    Hi,

I revisited the question and found that it is not completely impossible.
The key is to create a custom trigger that binds a custom Yes/no field
that changes the custom field value when the contact time is equal to the journey end time,
at which point the custom trigger is triggered and the contact exits the journey.

    Best Regards,

    Hi,

(this will be technical) - You can add a branch that checks for the current date:
    • Current date before event date? Branch to send email
    • Current date after eventdate? Do nothing.

The event date value you get in from the trigger of you have to define in creating the trigger for the real time marketing journey.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi partner,
This is by design and it is necessary to consider the waiting period when you are designing a real-time marketing journey.
It is recommended that you suggest an idea so that developers can see it.
