Creating entities via the webservice from Dynamics Online to Dynamics 365

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

a tad late to the 365 upgrade party.  I have a small customer on Dynamics online pro and we use the web services for some inbound marketing automation.  Basic stuff, creating contacts, opps, and the occasional customer service case from forms on their website.  This operates 100% using the Organization webservice on CRM Online.

Will this functionality continue to work properly when Dynamics upgrades to 365 ?  If not can someone point me to some documentation that describes the differences in the webservices?

thanks,

m

    Hi,

You code (and the 2016 organization service) will continue to work when you upgrade to D365. It's really just a name change and some integration updates at this point. At some point the Org Service will be deprecated in favor of the Web API (msdn.microsoft.com/.../mt593051.aspx). Microsoft hasn't announced when that cutoff will be but it's not going to happen for a while.

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question.

    Thanks,

     Aiden
