GL Account Summary Table/View Question

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi All,

We noticed that, for some reason, records exist in our GL Account Summary table with a 'null' Ledger ID.  Reconciling the GL and recalculating the summary balances cleared these up, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen this, and/or what might have caused it?  Thanks!

RE: GL Account Summary Table/View Question

Just wondering if you first noticed this after the most recent year end tax updates were issued?

That is when we first noticed this in a couple of client sites.

It has not apparently caused any issues, but as noted by Justin we also did a full reconcile and then found them to be populated.

Justin, we did not do any importing of transactions and I think it is related to the timing of the last update and the 'turning on' of some other features in the system - in our case the Intercompany Processing - was not used before, and just before the update we had switched on that feature.

If you learn more about the cause of the 'situation' please post for the community.

RE: GL Account Summary Table/View Question

    Hi,

This relates to the "Reporting Ledgers" feature of GL.  The General Ledger Setup window allows you to enable base, local, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) ledgers. After this process, users who are entering General Ledger transactions can assign the transactions to these specific reporting ledgers.

I haven't seen too many users using this feature, but my guess would be that perhaps you have an addon that posts transaction through GL...and it doesn't specify a Ledger ID.  So when Reconcile runs, it simply assigns it to the BASE ledger.

The Ledger_ID is also in the GL20000 table.   Do you notice any particular pattern as to when the Ledger_ID is Null?  Are the transactions imported?

    Thanks,

    Justin
