D365FO: Best Way to Fix a Misspelled Field Name after Deployment

Hi Everyone,

I’m interested in hearing how others have handled a situation where a field name was misspelled and the package containing it had already been deployed.

For example, a field was originally created as ORBTICustomerId (incorrect prefix) and now needs to be corrected to ORBITCustomerId in a new release of the package.

What approach did you use to introduce the corrected field and migrate the existing data from the old field (e.g., ORBTICustomerId) to the new one (ORBITCustomerId) after deployment?

Any guidance or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Column would be dropped and recreated so you would have to import the data again using entity or script. I would update the label of that field if you have a lot of data already in that column.
