Unfortunately, for online instances you do not have access to the infra to enable tracing on your own. However, just like the above tracing option for Plugins, you may rely on mostly client side tracing tools like Fiddler/F12 network (HTTP tracing) to understand the response served by the server when you faced certain issues while reproducing the issue. For errors/exceptions on to the UI, most of the times, CRM online serves us with an option to download the log file which can be helpful to know the origins.
If you are unable to resolve the issue using the OOB logs or the client side tracing options available for an existing issue on CRM online, you may raise a support request with Microsoft to get such tricky issues resolved on time.

This Setting is valid only for Plugins and Workflows. What I am looking for are log messages in the table Trace. I need access to the trace log of the whole application (what was in on-prem very easy to access).
