2009 YE Update & SP 4

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I successfully installed the 2009 YE Update with SP4 on server and 4 workstations.  On the final workstation I'm receiving the following error during the 'Configuring your computer' process:

 Unexpected instance type: '1'.

I've not been able to find a resolution.  Has anyone else experienced this?

 Thanks,

Debi

I dont know if I am answering your question here, I got the same problem while trying to install service pack 3. Exactly the same error. I did a couple of steps to fix the problem:

    1. Open the registry, and searched for "Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0".

    2. Changed 'Instance Type' from 1 to 0.

    3. Installed Service Pack3. This time there are no errors.

    4. Launch GP, it will repeatidly happening, so cancelled after first instance.

    5. Changed 'Instance Type' from 0 to 1.

    6. Start GP, and it worked well without any further problems.
