    RE: N/A Functionality in MSCRM

    I suggested two options:

    You make the supplier field...

    1. an account lookup field

(you could add to the field accountcategorycode the value "Supplier" and setup a new view to filter for all suppliers.

This view should be used in the lookup configuration on you form editor. )

    2. or an optionset field

Depending on the type you have to create:

    1. two accounts, one is called "N/A" and the second "Other",

also provide the account category "Supplier" for all supplier accounts.

    2. you define list of options with two entries "N/A" and "Other" and also add the supplier names to this list.

Supplier field would be another Account lookup field or optionset field for me depending on the requirement and data that should be stored regarding suppliers.

For account I would create N/A or Other record.

For optionset I would create N/A or Other entries.

Then you can create a business rule that can check if field is empty and set it to N/A if true.

As an inside (or outside) sales rep who wants to open a new case within the “Customer Care/Cases” module of CRM, I should be able to select a supplier name from a drop-down box. The supplier name should be defaulted to “n/a”. I should be able to select from a pre-populated list of Supplier names or if I cannot find my supplier, I should be able to select “Other”.

You could create a business rule, checking if Sales Person is empty and if so then set it to N/A.
