I am new to dynamics 365 and recently tried some customizations to dynamics 365 for sales. I along with one more developer got pretty confident with crm customizations and were trying to get some work regarding 365 development. But looking at the response i was wondering whether the development is more in ax and business central part or dynamics crm. Could anyone guide me on how to proceed further?

It depends on the business, but all of these software applications require developers and are currently relevant.

Based on the suggestions we will plan to invest our time in that particular platform as we know dynamics 365 is pretty vast.

It can be in both. Dynamics AX uses it's own custom language, x++, so you would need to learn that if you wanted to develop for AX. Customising in AX is also very different to Dynamics 365
