Searching the customeraddress entity

Additional addresses can be added to the account entity but these addresses are not searchable via the main search function. Via advanced find, selecting the address type, the addresses can be searched but this is not particularly user friendly.

For our customer services staff, they typically search based on postcodes. An account may have been created using one address (e.g. the invoicing address) but have additional delivery addresses and it is these that we would like to be able to search in a more convenient and quicker way than having to first do a primary search and then failing that, an advanced search.

Has anyone managed to find a better, more fluid way of searching addresses?

We had same kind of requirement for one of our client and we did with custom address entity rather than using system address entity. system address entity is very limited to make any customization and we can't use on other custom entities. If you go with custom address entity you can achieve what you are trying to .

    Hi EMJ

Normally we ask the user to get used to use adv find to search customeraddress entity.

Otherwise probably you can create your own web resource to search.

    Thanks

I thought this might be the case - I wonder what the best approach would be with the 5000+ addresses already in Dynamics and making them searchable...?

if you want make user friendly to access/search and usable across all entities your best bet would be going with custom address entity. You can easily export all the existing address records and create new custom address records using those values.
