Outlook endlessly track pending

My understanding is that in order for us to 'Follow' emails - ie see when the recipient opens and interacts with the email - from Outlook desktop I first need to have the emailed 'Tracked'.

My issue is that I see 'Track pending' for ages and it never seems to switch to Tracked until I've sent it, at which point i can no longer 'Follow' the email. 

I feel like I'm missing something but can't see what that is. I've check that server side synchronisation is activated and the mailboxes are all fine. Tracking works fine, but I can't seem to see how to Follow emails.

Any ideas?

    Hi,

    At times unfortunately, it gets stuck that way. The best way is to Untrack and click on Track again. It should go through fine.
