How to add Dynamics Guides on start menu

Hi,

I'm a starting to learn Dynamics Guides and i'am courious about some functions that i see on other Hololenses but don't know how to use them myself.

Currently i'am trying to let some school students work with dynamics guides and i was wondering if i can make it easier to enter a Guide. I thought it would be great if students can open a specific guide from the start menu, is this possible if so how can i do that?

Hope to hear from some of you and thanks in advance.

Greetings,

Ruben.

    Hey Ruben

I'm not aware of a way of adding a specific Guide to the start menu. But you can embed a link to a guide in a QR code and when the user looks at the QR code with the HL it will launch that guide. See here: docs.microsoft.com/.../pc-app-anchor-embed-qr-code-link

Note, the QR code for launching the guide can be different than one used for anchoring. Meaning, the QR code lauching the guide could be viewed off a laptop while the QR code for anchoring the guide could be attached to the physical item - these are distinct steps.

Also check this workflow out for how to autogenerate QR codes with links in them: docs.microsoft.com/.../workflow-example-1

    Hi Ruben,

Can you clarify whether you are trying to add a specific guide to the start menu on the HoloLens, or is it the PC app?

For the PC app, you can use the guide deep link and create a shortcut on the desktop. I have not found a way to shortcut from the start menu yet to a specific guide.

    1. Copy the link to a guide (see: Create or copy a link to a guide or step in Dynamics 365 Guides - Dynamics 365 Mixed Reality | Microsoft Docs)

    2. On the PC desktop, right click > New > shortcut

    3. Paste the guide link when it asks for location, select Next

    4. Give your shortcut a name, select Finish

    Hi Shirley,

Thanks for the response but I was wondering how I (and if I) can get a shortcut for a guide on the HoloLens. Not for PC. But thanks for your time.

If you can help still help me out that would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

    Greetings,

    Ruben

Ryan's reply on this thread is my shared understanding as well. I am not aware of any way to add a link/shortcut to the HoloLens start menu.

    Hello,

Maybe you can code a simple app which will open the deeplink you've generated on the PC or even more, a list of deeplink.

But you have to know how to develop UWP application for HoloLens and your HoloLens need to have developper mode enabled.

    Greetings,
