NAV Clients losing connection frequently

Good day

I am having this constant problem with BC on premise connecting with NAV RTC Client.

Users are disconnected at random times. Generally all users hang and receive the error below.
System works fine for 10-20 minutes and then all of a sudden the connection drops.
After clicking ok the RTC works fine.

I have checked anti-virus, firewall etc.I have replaced network cables and cards.
No errors in Event viewers on server or clients.

Server is SQL 2017 Express on Windows 10 Pro Ver 1809. 9 users. DB size is 4gb.
Please don't tell me this is not a recommended server system - I know that.
We worked fine for 2 years on NAV2018 on this setup.
Business Central has just given us endless hassles and errors.
We are however in the process of purchasing Server2019 system

Any recommendations on what to check ? My Business Central consultants cannot fix this.

Regards

Malcolm

I'll caveat my answer by saying I'm not an expert on service tier configuration, but have you checked that the service tier settings, in particular the various timeout settings, are identical to what you had under NAV 2018?

There's certainly the ability to get the connection to time out after a given period, I wonder if that's what's happening here?

    Good day

Thank you - I have added them below.

Running a normal ping to the server from a client workstation works fine until the error occurs.
Then ping times out for 10-15 sec until the RTC gets connection again.
Ping then resumes successfully when RTC connects again.

    Hi,

You will have play around with Timeout Parameters in Client Services Tab in Administration.

Currently I am facing the same problem with one of our client. Have you find the solution for this problem. I have changed the service tier settings and checked but it not work for me.

Just a quick idea: Have you checked Eventviewer -> Application Log on the NAV Server aroud the time, and see if there are any messages there, that can relate to these disconnections? It may be that the NAV Server ran something that made it lose the connection for some reason,

    Hi there.

One of our clients are having this exact issue.
Everything works fine for 10 minutes or so, and then the users get disconnected. Once they click ok their session resumes.

Did you manage to fix this issue?

We investigated our network , we investigated the host server of the nav application, we investigated SQL, and found no issues, We have checked event viewer for anything that stands out and the only thing we found is some IO exception errors relating to the nav app.

Its also worth noting users only have this issue when connecting straight from their office PC's. but if they log on to the hosted RDP server and access the nav app from there, then there are no disconnection issues.
