Location directives and picking

Our current location directive is setup to try and fulfil a pick from a whole quantity where possible. I need to amend the logic so that if a batch of the stock is older than 2 months, it should pick based purely on FIFO.

Current logic:

I want to move to this logic if there is stock older than 2 months available:

I've created a new location directive that is above the original location directive in sequence, but I cannot work out how to construct the 'Edit Query' in the location directive that will enable it to work if an item is older than 2 months old.

We do not use licence plates.

Thank you
I have the same question (0)

    Good day,

What is the storage strategy? Do you have one batch per location?

    Best regards,

We have multiple batches per location.

    Good day,

Thanks for your answer. You might try the feature "Location directive inventory picking aging"

    Best regards,

    Hi,

I fear we cannot write a query like that where we dynamically compare the today's date with batch's manufacturing date to determine batches which are older than 60 days.

I will still check once more but I think it's not possible.

    HI,

Are you not using Expiry dates for the batches?
Have your explored "FEFO batch reservation" strategy in the Location directive actions?

FEFO batch reservation: used when inventory is located using a batch expiration date and is allocated for batch reservation.

    Regards,
    Venkat

Out of the box, a Location Directive query cannot dynamically filter inventory based on batch age (e.g., older than 2 months). The Edit Query supports filtering on static fields but does not evaluate inventory age relative to the current date.

If your items are batch-tracked, one option is to use a Batch Reservation Strategy (such as FIFO based on batch dates) together with FEFO/FIFO settings, depending on your business requirement.

If the requirement is to switch the picking logic only when stock older than 2 months exists, this conditional behavior is not supported out of the box and would typically require a customization or extension to the warehouse location directive logic.
