Fixed rate (Forward rate) on purchase orders

Hi!

Customer needs to be able to enter a fixed exchange rate on specific orders. This exchange rate will then be used (not the rates set up in the standard exchange rate table) when the invoice amount is recalculated prior to posting to the ledger.

HOWEVER! When you generate a new invoice from the PO. On the Vendor Invoice form header view, under the set up fast tab. There is a check box "Fixed rate" which will enable you to enter a fixed rate to use in the ledger posting.

QUESTION: Say the accounting currency = USD and order currency = EUR.

If you check the AP parameter "Post product receipts in ledger". In what currency and with what exchange rate would the be order amount be posted to the ledger?

I'm thinking that If AX would use the standard set up exchange rate valid for the receipt date. That exchange rate would also most likely be different from the exchange rate at the day of invoice posting. So maybe one shold just see the physical posting as a very temporary values.

What are your thoughts on this?

BR

Erik

    Hi,

A similar issue has been raised before here: community.dynamics.com/.../93491.aspx

Essentially that is suggesting the use of 'Virtual currencies'.

Other than that AX doesn't deal with fixed exchange rates for PO's. Only Sales orders unfortunately.

    Hi Erik,

The physical posting is indeed temporary. Depending on the inventory value model you can have large differences between receipt and the invoice. AX always assumes that the financial value (invoice) will be the truth.
