How to make a field compulsory when the status reason on lead changes Active to Passive

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

I have created a field "Reason to Recycle" on our lead form and want to make this compulsory everytime the "Status Reason" field changes from Active to Passive. Need some help on how to go about doing this. Thanks!

Refer to my answer above on how to make a field mandatory using Business Rules.

    Yes, open to business rules.

I don't think you can make a field mandatory without using Business Rules or Javascript.

Hi thanks but this did not work.....the Date became active gets populated correctly but the Not worth qualifying field does not change to True because I need the Reason to Recycle field to be mandatory while they are changing the Status reason to Passive and not after they have done it.

    Hi!

I can see that the option "Run this workflow in the background" is ticked based on your screenshot. So what you have is actually a background workflow. There's an option at the top to convert it to a real time workflow. Once you convert it "Run this workflow in the background" should be unticked as below.

Hi, if you see my workflow screenshot posted previously it is not an on demand workflow - it is a real time one.

Hi again, need to correct myself. Make it a real time workflow and not on demand. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks!

    Hi,

Try converting it to an on-demand workflow and trigger should be when record fields change, specifically Status Reason:

    Hi Carmina,

I did think about this and had created a workflow to capture the date became active field but for some reason its not working, any idea why?
