Marketing email - Can a sender be someone other than a user?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Here is the situation : I am the main person that will be creating marketing emails, campaign and whatnot and need to be able to indicate that the sender of the email is someone who may not have a Dynamics 365 licence.

How do I achieve that? When I try to change the sender it has to be a user? It is a settings somewhere?

Thanks in advance

Could you help with below ?

"To address: This should almost always be set to {{ contact.emailaddress1 }}, which sends the message to each contact included in the customer journey that sends the email. You might change this to use a different email address field (such as emailaddress2), or enter a dynamic expression that chooses the best of several available email fields."

Where can I find details on dynamics expression for this ?

Can other entity be used instead of contact ?

    thank you

You can try PowerAddon Marketing Cloud to send email. It's possible to send a mail with a different email address.

Yes you can! If you go to the summary section of the email you are creating, you can then type the sender name and email address that you wish to send the email from. In order to change the owner of the email template you are creating, the person has to be user in your site.  Hope this helps!

    Hi hockeymom,

sure! you can customize and personalize these fields as you like. They are in a separate tab of the email, in a group called "Advanced Header".

    See here:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/marketing/prepare-marketing-emails

The following Sender and receiver settings are available:

    • From name: This is the name shown to recipients as the person who sent the email. By default, this is the name of the From contact chosen at the top of the form (which is initially set to the user who created the message). You can edit this to use a static value, or choose the assist-edit button to define an alternative dynamic value.
    • From address: This is the email address shown to recipients as the address of the person who sent the email. By default, this is the address of the From contact chosen at the top of the form (which is initially set to the user who created the message). You can edit this to use a static value, or choose the assist-edit button to define an alternative dynamic value.
    • To address: This should almost always be set to {{ contact.emailaddress1 }}, which sends the message to each contact included in the customer journey that sends the email. You might change this to use a different email address field (such as emailaddress2), or enter a dynamic expression that chooses the best of several available email fields.
    • Reply-to address: This should usually be blank, which means that replies to the message will be sent to the address of the From contact (or the From address, if it's different). If you set a value here, replies to your message will be sent to this address rather than the displayed from address. You can edit this to use a static value, or choose the assist-edit button to define an alternative dynamic value.
