Error when typing into lookup field that uses a filtered view

Has anyone seen this behavior before?

I have a lookup field on a form that is basically just a lookup to a Team.

If i leave the filter criteria blank it works fine on the form and searches / allows you to type any team name.

As soon as i add Filter Criteria to the view to only display certain teams (in my case just using contains and selecting all the teams i want), when i go back to the form and type a full or partial team name into the lookup i get the standard 'An Error has occurred' popup.

If i select a team using the hourglass it is fine. Seems like a bug to me. Im using CRM 2015 on-premise.

RE: Error when typing into lookup field that uses a filtered view

I think it must be something to do with data types and although im selecting teams to choose from when you type a name e.g. Text, it is most likely using a team guid or something behind the scenes rather than text. I have found a way round it now by utilizing the team description field.
