Indentifying a error entry within timesheet authorisation

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have a error somewhere within my companies timesheet system which is preventing all time sheet approvers from being able to approve any time sheets. How can and where can I go to see where this error is and remove/fix it?

    Hi

It seems to be customizations made , Suggest you to contact your partner / developer.

Hi Jon, thanks for the information I have logged on to the developer gui and noticed that there is a few tables that are bespoke / modified from the standard nav. I was wondering if there was a screen I can look at to see where the duplication could be ie the 40000 line ?

ok, first check the modified flag of these objects in object manager. if it's set, then the object was modified. To check the documentation trigger you need a developer license. the text in the documentation trigger describes all the changes of that object, is always set on the the top of the code editor. the version list is a column in the object manager (columns: type, name, modified, version list, date, time, compiled). in the version list changes are documented as a combination of the abbreviation of the changer/module/company and a number. if the version list simply contains a value like 'NAVW18.00', then the object is unchanged. if there is a value added, eg. MOD1.0 or what ever, then it was changed. a hit can also be the time value. if that is different from 12:00, then in most cases the object was changed.

the following picture shows the main list of nav objects concerning the time sheet functionality. in that case no object was changed:

Hi Jon, sorry to sound too stupid, please can you help me navigate to where the said tables are? Are these tables viewed via server side or through a user GUI? Also you mention documentation trigger what's this? Really appreciate any educating you can offer me :-)

Hi Nareshwar, thanks for reply, I'm unsure if the timesheet system has been customised, if it's anything to go on with the rest of the nav installation then it could well be! When I'm trying to post any time sheets that has any values on them from any team member (i.e. I'm authorising) I get the following error, it use to work! Error message says "the job journal line already exists. Indentification fields  and values: journal template name='job, journal batch name='time',line no=40000". Is there a screen I can bring up to list all time sheet entries for everyone and everything to imdentify this error ?

    Hi Nick,

Do you receive any error messages? Are the time sheets customized?

If it is standard, check the Time Sheet Owner User ID and Time Sheet Approver User ID values in the Resource Card. Let us know the update.

    Hope it helps.
