Can't assign manager as Team administrator

Posted on by 70

Hi all,

Hoping for some advice - I'm trying to create a team on our Dynamics sandbox solution. The team has been created and I can assign myself as the administrator, but when I go to assign the actual manager of the team I get an error: "The manager you have selected is assigned to a different business unit. If you contact support, please provide the technical details." We only have one business unit in the sandbox and I've triple checked that the manager is assigned to the same unit as the rest of our users - it's the same business unit I'm assigned to and yet I can be the administrator no problems. Anyone have any idea what might be going on? I'm sure I'm missing something.

Thanks for any advice.

    Hi Prasanna,

Thanks so much for your reply - following your troubleshooting steps I've found the source of the error. It was nothing to do with the business unit but rather that the custom security role I'd made didn't have read privileges for the Team entity. This detail was included in the log file but the error message was very misleading.

    Thanks again for your help.

RE: Can't assign manager as Team administrator

    Hi Sam,

I have gone through the details of the issue.

I created a test environment and tested with below scenario:

--> Created two users, User1 (admin) User 2 ( Account manager)

--> Created a Team with the default BU

    --> Created a new BU

--> Moved the User 2 ( Account manager) to the new BU

Then tried adding the user2 to the Team and was successful in doing the same.

I would request you to narrow down with below isolations:

--> Check if the issue is happening for only this specific users ?

--> Change the security role to the admin for the user and try the same action

--> Capture a fiddler trace and check for the error message, which will help you for troubleshooting.

If in case, you are still facing the issue, request you to raise an support ticket with Microsoft for further analysis.
