I am working an it item journal line configuration package that contains lot and serial numbers. Do I need to do table 337 (reservation entry) and 336 (Tracking specification), or only 337? I'm trying to understand the needs of both. I entered in an entry directly into the item journal line, and when I added the serial/lot info, it showed up in table 337, but not in 336. Please advise. I have read through this, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/design-details-item-tracking-design but still don't understand what would be needed for this config package, or why.

When I did our system (4 years a go). I followed below guideline and it was successful. You only need table 83 and 337. Below article need a little bit trial and error. specially for SN. Like on 337 for SN you need to use the line in 83 but enter 1 for each unique SN.
