Security Issues with Dynamics 365 and Teams Integration?

Posted on by 777

We are looking to start integrating Dynamics 365 into Teams channels. We will start by using views in the Teams Channel tab.

A few questions:

1) Are all Dynamics behaviors that are auditable still audited when actions are performed from within Teams?

2) Are Dynamics security roles still in effect when viewing records from within Teams?

3) Are there any special circumstances or security issues to be aware of when doing this integration?

Hi Ben, When you want to use views in Teams, what actions can a user take that you want audited?

Now based on my experience, if you open that record in Teams and edit it , it will still be audited as if you did it from within Dynamics so you are good on that end.

Regarding security roles, they will be respected based on the user logged in into Teams. For example,  I can only see contacts in my Business unit, I will only be able to see those records in Teams as well nothing more.

For your last question, I think if everything is setup properly in D365, then it should be smooth in Teams (regarding security I mean). Check the privacy section in this link (docs.microsoft.com/.../teams-integration) if you care about other services listening to what the users type in Teams or not.
