Connecting Microsoft Dynamics to Reporting Services

Posted on by 55

We would like to Connect Microsoft Dynamics GP to Reporting Services Instance.  We have a report that was created using Report Writer in Microsoft Dynamics.   Is it possible to run this report in Reporting Services?   If not,  how can we convert this report to Reporting Services?

RE: Connecting Microsoft Dynamics to Reporting Services

You started out by saying you would like to connect Microsoft Dynamics GP to a Reporting Services instance. For this you will need to go to Administration | System | Reporting Tools and enter the information for your Reporting Services server.

Please take a look at my article SSRS: The deployment has exceeded the maximum request length allowed by the target server - dynamicsgpblogster.blogspot.com/.../ssrs-deployment-has-exceeded-maximum.html for some info you will need to configure Reporting Services prior to deploying your reports.

A good number of Report Writer reports have been re-written in Reporting Services, but not all of them of course, depending on the report you are referring to, you may be lucky enough to have its equivalent written in Reporting Services. If not, you will need to create the report from scratch using Report Builder, BIDS, or Visual Studio.

There is no way to connect a Report Writer report to SSRS. However, many of the RW reports have SSRS counterparts? Have you configured GP to deploy the canned set of SSRS yet?
