Project adjustment error - Unsupported datasource

Hi.

When trying to create an adjustment to a project, in some cases I get this error:

"Unsupported datasource used for PositionToRecord or PositionToRecordByValue. Unable to execute fallback logic to find record."

Can someone explain what this error means and what to do with that?

Hi Roberto,

Can you provide the steps you have done to get this error? Did you start the adjustment from a transaction, project or the main menu? What transaction type(s) are you trying to adjust?

Hi André.

I am doing the adjustment fro the Project or the Project contract, and adjusting all available transactions. I've checked the setup and the funding rules (grants) and everything appears to be correct.

What transaction types are available on this project? Do you have the error on all projects or just one?

Hi André.

We have Hour and Expense transactions in our projects.

I get this error on all projects, when trying to adjust all transactions together (or more than 20-30 in one time). Adjusting one by one works without errors, but it's impossible as we have hundreds of transactions for each project to be adjusted.

Hi Robert,

came across with the same error. It looks like form datasource methods findRecord and findValue have been deprecated and replaced with method positionToRecord and positionToRecordByValue. These new methods don't support views or temporary tables in form datasource. I had a form with an extension that added a datasource based on a view. This datasource had an outerjoin to the form main datasource. This resulted in the error:"Unsupported datasource used for PositionToRecord or PositionToRecordByValue. Unable to execute fallback logic to find record." when a form operation was done. The form tried to reset to the same row from where the operation had been called from and this cannot be done. As a result I would recommend not using views or temporary tables in form datasource extensions.

Hi.

This was resolved by installing a hotfix, after a long investigation by Microsoft.

This shouldn't happen anymore in an application 8.1.3 or higher.

I am facing same issue on Budget Transaction Entry form. Can you please let me know KB Number you installed to resolve this error.

Hi Haroon.

We got a private fix for our issue, so I don't know what will the KB Number. But it was related to project adjustments, so I'm not sure it will help. And it was for an older version of D365FO - it was 7.2 version.

I would suggest contacting Microsoft to resolve your issue.
