Problem with updating Aliases

I have deleted a number of aliases in Headquarters, when I delete the aliases I run a worksheet 250 to update the stores. I was expecting the alias to be deleted from the store items to reflect the change in HQ but it is not doing this? According to the worksheet styles 250 is the correct worksheet to run, can anyone give any advice on why this is not working as I expect it to and what I should do to ensure the alias is updated in Store Ops

    Hi Ashraf.

    Unfortunatly, Worksheet 250 is not deleting the Alias at Store Ops database. As I'm aware, there is no out of the box solutions for this, so You have to do a workaround, using worksheet 51 and send some tSQL quieries.

    To do this, you need someone with a little bit more knowledge of pure tSQL to create the delete sentences. It's not too hard, but still, I recomend you do some work in testing environment and see how it works first, also even in real environment always do a database backup first before the first 51 worksheets ...

    Depending on what you want to do, your sentences should be something like this:

    - DELETE FROM Alias WHERE ItemID = xxx (where xxx is local ID of the Item); or

    - DELETE FROM Alias WHERE ItemID in (SELECT Id FROM Item WHERE ItemLookupCode = 'yyyyy'), where 'yyyyy' is the ItemLookupCode of the Item;

    - or DELETE FROM Alias WHERE Alias = 'zzzzz', where 'zzzzzz' is the Alias you want to delete

    Of course, there could be more stuff, like deleting alias in group (for several items) or deleting alias for items in that category or ..., but as I saed, You need someone with more tSQL experiance.

    This can be saved as store procedure in the SQL database, or you can copy/paste the worksheets for future use or ... more other ideas...

    If you need more help, please contact me...

    Kind regards, A.

    what I should do to ensure the alias is updated in Store Ops

    You can run worksheet 51 execute sql command to delete aliases from stores.

    RE: Problem with updating Aliases

    Hi again... I think, the most efective way to do it is find someone with a little bit more tSQL experiance, that can create a SQL trigger for the HQ Alias table, that will automatically (over stored procedure or whatever) create a Worksheet type 51 that will delete that Alias in the stores, once the worksheet is processed...or similar... I've done this for an existing customer with other tables and it worked fine...

    Kind regards, A.

    You could also use the Advanced Wizards from Retail Realm to do this.
