Embedded Power BI report error (Finance)

There are multiple companies in Business central.

I've set up 2 Finance app in Power BI app, and connect them to different companies.

When the system is trying to refresh the data from BC, it shows an error.

However, I don't find any duplicate issue with the G/L account XXX in Chart of account.

This is a standard Power BI report, I don't change anything on the report.

Has anyone have any idea?

Hello,

This specific error is documented by Microsoft and usually does not mean that the G/L Account itself is duplicated in the Chart of Accounts. The Power BI Finance app builds a hierarchy using Begin-Total and End-Total accounts, and the same account number can become duplicated in the semantic model when the Totaling field of one or more End-Total accounts references that account incorrectly or more than once. Go to Chart of Accounts, filter the Totaling field using *XXX*, and check whether the account shown in the error is referenced by multiple End-Total accounts or by an incorrect totaling range. Microsoft states that an End-Total account should correctly reference its matching Begin-Total and End-Total structure, and one Begin-Total account should not be reused incorrectly across multiple End-Total accounts. Also, since you have multiple companies, remember that the standard Power BI apps work per company, so each company should have its own template app/workspace.

Hi,

the standard BC Finance app runs per company, so normally it can't mix two charts of accounts on its own. Each instance connects to one company, and for more companies you're meant to install separate instances, usually in their own workspaces.
That points the duplicate back to the setup, not the report. I'd check the two apps are really tied to different company connections and not both feeding the same dataset or workspace. If they share one semantic model, or one got left at environment level instead of a company, then G/L accounts from both companies land together and the account No. key collides — that's the duplicate you see.

Two things worth checking: are the apps in the same workspace or separate, and did you pick the company during the connect step or leave it default? That default is usually where it slips.
