Batch posting error in Sales module

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Trying to post a batch and got an error referring me to the batch recovery window.  When opening the batch in recovery got the further message - salve operation on table has created a duplicate key.   Where do I go to correct the error and get the batch released?

Thanks,

    RuthMary,

Steve is right on the money. When you post the transaction, it's going to want to save a new record to the transaction open or history table. If there is a record in that table that matches the record key in the batch, you'll get that error message. Duplicate key errors are never wrong, but they are typically easy to fix simply by removing the duplicate record.

Could you try to to GP>>Tools>>Routines>>Master Posting>> (filter series to Sales only), Then look at the Batches Listed,

See if you can find your batch, and what the status is.  If it is available, mark it and Post it.  If successful it will post, if not it will give you an error print out.  Steve's suggestion is the most sure way to get into and clear the batch, but you have to be comfortable running SQL on your production machine.

Sounds like a posting interruption, first I would clear the Batch Status in the SY00500 table, (assuming you are comfortable w SQL)

Then depending on the module, look at the Work, Open and Hist tables for the Documents in the batch and verify if got partially posted.  Then once you have that info can determine a course of action.

If you are not comfortable with SQL or writing the queries to see where data is, I would recommend contacting your partner, this probably isn't a simple one.
