Business Central trial – Production and Sandbox environments stuck in “Not Ready”

Hello,

I recently signed up for a Dynamics 365 Business Central trial using my work account.

Both my Production and Sandbox environments are stuck in “Not Ready” status, and I cannot open Business Central.

Environment details

  • Product: Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Production environment: Production
  • Sandbox environment: Sandbox
  • Country/Region: Germany (DE)
  • Azure Region: Germany
  • Application Version: 28.5
  • Status: Not Ready

When I try to open the Business Central environment, I receive:

“We could not find the environment you were looking for.”

The Business Central trial license Dynamics 365 Business Central for IWs is active and assigned to my user.

I have tried both Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome, with the same result.

In the Business Central Admin Center, the Production environment shows an operation created by SYSTEM:

  • Operation Type: Modify
  • Status: Complete
  • Target update version: 29.0
  • Scheduled, Started and Completed: 26 September 2026, 22:08:11 CEST

There are no failed operations shown.

The Sandbox environment is also stuck in Not Ready.

Microsoft Support Assistant does not allow me to create a support request because my trial does not have an available Business Central support plan.

Could someone please advise what could cause both Production and Sandbox environments to remain in Not Ready status, and what I should do to complete the provisioning?

Thank you!

If you try to access the environment in an incognito/private window, do you get the same error?

Do you have a power platform environment? That could be causing issues as well, you can read about that here: Managing Production and Sandbox Environments - Business Central | Microsoft Learn

    And validate it here:

Screenshot showing the Linked Power Platform setting on the environment in the Business Central admin center

If you don't have a power platform environment linked could you try just removing that tenant and creating a new trial? You could even try with a different region as that could be causing issues. Business Central v29 is just around the corner so maybe it's something to do with that.

I tested the environment in an Incognito/InPrivate browser window and I get the same error:

"We could not find the environment you were looking for."

I also checked the Linked Power Platform Environment setting in the Business Central Admin Center. It is Not Set.

    The environment details are:

    • Type: Production

    • Status: Not Ready

    • Country: Germany (DE)

    • Business Central version: 28.5

    • Business Central URL: https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/<tenant-id>/Production

The URL exists in the Admin Center, but opening it always results in the same error.

I also checked the Operations page. There is only one completed operation:

    • Operation: Modify

    • Started by: SYSTEM

    • Status: Complete

There are no Create, Preparing, or Failed operations.

At this point, it looks like the environment provisioning may not have completed successfully, even though the license is active and the operation status shows "Complete".

Could you please confirm whether this looks like a provisioning issue on the Microsoft side, or if there is anything else I can check before creating a new trial tenant?

    Hello,

This issue is most likely related to trial environment provisioning, localization, or a pending version update. Since the environment is configured for Germany (DE), while the trial SKU may be region-specific, and the target version shows 29.0 while the environment is still on 28.5, the environment may remain in “Not Ready.” As a first step, verify that the tenant region and Business Central localization match, then delete and recreate the affected Production/Sandbox environments. If the issue continues, create a new Germany-based trial or ask your Microsoft Partner to provision a demo environment. You can also raise the provisioning issue through Microsoft 365 Admin Center → Help/Support.

    Hope it will help you.

    Many Thanks

Try deleting and recreating it—it looks like something went wrong during environment creation.

    Thanks.

    Hello,
This looks like a backend provisioning issue, not a browser problem. A Business Central trial environment should be created automatically, so if both Production and Sandbox remain Not Ready for several days and the URL returns “environment could not be found,” there is probably nothing you can fix inside BC. Also, the completed Modify operation does not mean the environment was upgraded to 29.0—the screenshot still shows 28.5 and “29.0 scheduled upon release.” Check Microsoft 365 service health and, if available in Admin Center, use Support > Report Production Outage for the Production environment; otherwise, because trial tenants don't have normal Microsoft support access, contact a Business Central partner who can escalate the provisioning issue to Microsoft.
