Commercer components for Power Platform

Hi D365 Community,

Your guideance here, please!!

we're currently working with power platform environments and handling Commerce settings because our customer will require those functionalities, in the process, our technical team found the following information which we need clarification on:

¨The Commerce Scale Unit on Power Platform is currently in preview mode. There are warnings indicating that this Scale Unit configured for Commerce will be removed once the preview version deadline is reached¨.

We fear the work we're doing now could be affected once this happens or deleted, and it could cause major delays and rework from our side.

Therefore, we would like to confirm:

1) Is this official? When will this happen? A new version will be released, we assume.

2) How can this impact environments with a previous (preview) version? Is there a way to maintain it? And not affect what we've done already?

We appreciate your guidance on the matter.

The Commerce management capability in Power Platform admin center is currently Public Preview and therefore subject to lifecycle and implementation changes. Microsoft currently plans General Availability around September 2026, but the preview itself should not be treated as a permanently stable production deployment model. There is currently no Microsoft documentation stating that existing Commerce configuration will simply be deleted when the preview ends. However, the supported migration/transition path for an existing preview-provisioned CSU should be confirmed with Microsoft before using it as the production foundation.

    Hi,

You shared a sentence of which you want to get clarity on. Can you please share the source of this sentence?

My response is based on a conversation I had with MS a few months ago. At that time, I was told that you can deploy multiple CSUs, and it doesn't validate against the number of CSU licenses you have, as it is in preview now. The current deployments are happening with the prefix "trial," which really doesn't look like it's made for production and might go away. As other members have commented, there are no official dates or process documented yet.

If MS deletes the existing trial/preview environments, I don't think you lose anything. It will be more of a reconfiguration:

    1. You will need to deploy a new CSU, which I assume will not have a preview/trial prefix.

    2. Deploy the custom packages, if any.

    3. Update the channel database/channel profile against the stores in FO.

    4. Push 9999.

    5. Activate the POS.
