Imagine a scenario where many companies (operational companies) from a holding, including the holding itself, use a single database (app + data) and a single NAV license, all of them accessing a Web portal.
Now, imagine that you want to still provide a single NAV instance through the Web to all those companies (one application), but then you want, for security, safety, recovery - you name it) group some of those companies in small clusters of 2-3 companies, and other companies alone in their cluster. Each cluster, holding 1 or more of those companies) will become a tenant of that instance.
Since the original scenario of a single app/data database required a single NAV License, what will it be the NAV licensing requirement, when you still provide one instance of the application and you add to it n tenants?
My immediate answer would be you still need a single license, since there's still a single instance and application in use. But would Microsoft disagree and state that the holding/cluster companies will be obliged to have and pay for a distinct license per tenant?
I would very much appreciate someone from Microsoft to direct me to the licensing precise terms of the scenario above or with solid MS/NAV licensing knowledge to comment.
Many thanks.
