General Ledger 2016

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Good morning all,

I'm trying to do a very basic thing.  I just need to run a general ledger in NAV 2016.  I see "G/L Register" under Departments>General Ledger>Reports>Entries.......... but when I click on this I get a box where I can select from a number of filters.  In this selection of filters, I hoped to see simply a "from date" and a "to date", but alas I don't see this.

Also, when I do run the G/L this way using one of the filters I do see, I don't see a way to see a running balance.

Any help into solving these issues would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,

Hmmm what's strange is that I tried that and set it to an account I know had activity in the relevant time period.  And it just gave me a blank sheet.  I'm just trying to run something that says:  Account No. X  Balance at 9/1/17.  And then all the activity in this account for the month of September is listed, and then at the end is balance at 9/30/17.   Do you know where I might be going wrong in searching for this?

    Thank you,

    Hi,

Are you looking for a balance at date in a report or do you want to setup account schedules? If you run the "Chart of Accounts" report, you can add a "Limit Filter" (Limit Totals To) of "Date Filter". In that filter enter your from and to date like this: "090117..093017" If you want it from the earliest to a certain date you can enter "..093017".

    thanks for your response,

Yes I saw the creation date, but won't that just be the day I actually post it, rather than the "posting date" in terms of the accounting period I want it to go in?  See what I mean?

You can use Creation date for filter the date..
