Hi Kaydee,
The process for Reconciling Bank Accounts in Financials has a few options in it. First of all there are two different pages which can be used for accomplishing the reconciliation. There are significant differences between the two. The version of the reconciliation that you are using is one that is designed more for European markets. Even though you are in North America, you can use this process.
You stated that when you sort on a header, data disappears. I'm trying to reproduce this, but haven't been able to do so. Are there specific line types which seem to be disappearing? Are there specific headers columns which cause the data to disappear?
When you use the ribbon buttons and choose to Match Manually, then any already matched records will no longer be shown. This shortens/simplifies the list, so that only the unmatched lines are shown. Clicking the "Show All" button in the ribbon should allow you to see all records from both lists.
Additionally, this MSDN page offers information and a number of links to assist in the processing in this Bank Account Reconciliation page: msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh168956(v=nav.90).aspx.
I do want to share the other option with you. If you open the General Ledger Setup page and unmark the "Bank Recon. with Auto. Match" checkbox in the General fast tab, and click through the alert message. Then when you search for and select Bank Account Reconciliations, a new reconciliation will open the Bank Rec. Worksheet. This interface is more familiar for North America users.
It does have some differences, which may make this less friendly for scenarios where there are a LOT of transactions:
-It does not include auto-match functionality.
-It does not include a bank statement import.
-At this time, we do not have an outstanding deposits and checks report.
-You must have a single Bank Account associated with a single Cash Account in the G/L--if you happen to have two Bank Accounts associated with a single Cash Account, then there will always be a difference.
This MSDN page provides "how to" information for using this Bank Rec. Worksheet: msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh928521(v=nav.90).aspx
There is a compare/contrast of the two methods in this blog: blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/.../improvements-to-bank-reconciliation-in-the-north-american-versions
Sorry that I am throwing a ton of information at you. I wanted you to pick the method that works best for you. If you are still having records drop off the screens as you work, then let me know so that we can dig further into what is occurring.
