Web Client Authorisation

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Has anyone got the link to the Azure AD working. we have a couple of Azure ADs set up, however I always get not found in directory when I try and set the user up in the web client. What is the entry you put in the Azure AD box, as whatever I'm putting in doesn't seem to be working.

Also the setup screen in Utilitles seems to be bugged, if you enter the details and save them, then re-open the window the server and database entries have switched round.

    RE: Web Client Authorisation

    Nick,

There are two points to be noted on this issue:

    1. GP Utilities behaving weirdly by swapping values of server name and db name. This one's a bug, in terms of how values are *read* from database and shown on Manage user authentication" window fields. But as such, when we enter the details correctly on each field and hit OK, it saves the value properly on the respective table. So, Microsoft said this is a product "quality" issue and not a bug.

    2. To make your organization account work, you need to first add GP Web Client as an app on your Azure portal and give it necessary rights to read directory information. This step will give you a client ID and a key value that you must use it on Web Client installation process.

Furthermore, by nature, if we are installing Web Client as "Single Machine Configuration", then we will not be able to use Organization Account. We can only use Windows Account. We must install Web Client as "Multi-Tenant Configuration" and then use the client ID and key value (noted from point #1 above). This way, your Organization Account authentication would work perfectly.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to share logs/support details with you as it's directly linked with my company information. But above is the gist of the whole support process that I had in the past week.

    Hope that helps.

This is confirmed by Microsoft Support as a bug. They have identified this as a product quality issue and will be working on this. We may get a fix soon, but not sure how soon.

This indeed looks like either a bug. May be the labels of those fields are misplaced. May be this ain't getting stored correctly. I am facing the exact issue what you are facing now. Just wondering if I must pull in Microsoft Support to address this.
