SSRS PDF and Fields!crm_moneyformatstring.Value

Posted on by

I had a CRM report for quotes running many years in CRM 2011 and now CRM 2016. Now it's cutting the numbers when outputting to PDF (save as pdf) using the formatting string which I assume is still best practise from an application stand point. Does anyone know if an update or patch has changed the pdf rendering for the SSRS service and perhaps what could be done to troubleshoot thanks?

I have attached an illustration of the issue below.

Best regards,

Bjørn

    Hi Bjorn,

You have SQL Server 2012 SP3.  This version was released in Nov 2015. This may have occurred after a SQL Server upgrade.

You can try to take a copy of the this report and modify the cells with some of the suggestions mentioned in below thread.  See if it makes any difference.

Unfortunately I wasn't part of the technical upgrade from 2011 to 2016, but in CRM 2011 we had a dedicated SSRS server but today it's placed together with the SQL server.

The version (11.0.6020.0) running the configuration manager seems very default, though I am not totally sure if/where there's system table to check the ssrs versioning.

    Cheers,

    Bjørn

Hi Bjorn, What's the current version of SSRS? During the CRM upgrade, did you upgrade the SQL Server or is it still the same version?

    Hi Nadeeja,

Yes the report is using Tahoma and nothing changed on the fonts since October 2015. I also thought I should check for any updates in the SSRS folder and binaries, these also haven't been changed though I am not sure if there's a dll or something else used for the PDF rendering located in another SQL server installation folder.

As I mention using my local PDF printer (PDF995) using the print button in the report viewer then the rendering is actually working, so I still think something was changed on the SSRS pdf rendering.

    Cheers,

    Bjørn

    Hi Bjorn-DK,

More than the version of Visual Studio it's the actual server that generates the PDF matters.  Is the font installed on the server where SQL Server Reporting Services is running?

We had CRM 2016 on premise since June so the problem only showed after a few months. Thanks I will try and check if something happened on the fonts though then I would expect to see the issue on all USD quotes with larger amounts.

    Thanks for your insights,

    Bjørn

I did thanks (using VS2008 and tried VS2010 with same result) and on this particular quote (had more than one, doesn't happen on all) is the same no matter how I render it. BUT rendering it to a local pdf printer of mine from the browser actually works fine, so I am still thinking Microsoft changed something.

    Hi Bjorn-DK,

I assume you have a new set of servers.  Double check if you have the same Fonts on that server.

not that I am aware of but could you open the RDL file in VS2012 and run from the IDE and see if it is the case of rendering within VS-SSRS or only when you browse the RDL within CRM?
